UNESCO Worldwide Youth Multimedia Competition 2016

About


  • UNESCO Worldwide Youth Multimedia Competition 2016 is being organized in order to spread awareness and encourage participation of youth in achieving sustainable development.
  • The UNESCO Worldwide Youth Multimedia Competition is open for students from age 10 to 24 years and will accept individual participation on the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • UNESCO has given 17 goals and participants can submit their entries in the form of Videos, Essays, Artwork or Multimedia Presentation etc. related to any one of the 17 sustainable development goals.
  • The entries should suggest answers to the queries or questions raised in that particular goal.
  • The 3 winners from each age group will get a plaque engraved with their name and a certificate along with an invitation to UNESCO’s Builders of the Universe Camp

Details
Nationality: The UNESCO Worldwide Youth Multimedia Competition is open for Global participation.

Age: The age of the candidate needs to be between 10 to 24 years. Based on the age of the participants, the competition has been divided into 3 categories:

  • Juniors: Age 10 to 14 years
  • Youth: Age 15-19 years
  • Adult: Age 20 to 24 years


Participation: Only individual participation is allowed in the UNESCO Worldwide Youth Multimedia Competition. 






Reward


Total 7 semifinalists will be selected from each category out of which winner will be selected.
  • Semi-finalists: All the 7 semi-finalists from each age group will get certificates.
  • Winners:  3 finalists from each age group will get an official plaque engraved with their name and a certificate.
  • Invitation to Builders of the Universe Camp: All winners will get an invitation to Builders of the Universe Camp which will be organized during summer of 2016 at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, USA.
    • The expenses such as the fee for the camp, food, accommodations, and transport to and from the airport will be covered by a scholarship and a special ceremony will be organized for the winners of the contest. (Airfare will not be covered)
  • Recognition in UN Global Events: Top 9 winners (Top 3 winners from each of the 3 group) will be recognized in UN Global Events.



Application Mode


To be a part of the UNESCO Worldwide Youth Multimedia Competition, candidates are required to submit a 3-minute video, multimedia presentation, essay, and artwork which presents a solution related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by United Nations. The details of the competition are as follow:
  • Specifications: Participating candidates can select the mode in which they would like to express their views related to any particular goal. The specifications are:
    •  Applicants are allowed to submit 1 entry per person.
    • The work to be submitted should be original and related to the question.
    • Essay: The font needs to be Times New Roman, 12 points, double-spaced, 1-inch margins all around and within 500-700 words in English in MLA format.
    • Video: The maximum duration of video needs to be 3 minutes.
    • 3-dimensional images will be accepted and the candidates should provide 100 words explanation on the submission form.




Selection Process

  • The selection of the winners will be done by a panel of international judges.
  • The essays will be judged on the basis relevance, development, creativity, impact, and originality.
  • Result: The result of the competition will be declared on February 18, 2016.
