About
The Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation is conducting the Nationwide painting competition on Water Conservation for the students of 6th 7th and 8th Standards to make the children aware about the need of conserving this precious resource and at the same time involving their parents and teachers in this noble cause. The Painting competition will be held in three stages, namely SCHOOL, STATE and NATIONAL Levels.

The students of class 6,7 and 8 can participate in the competition and create their artwork on the below mentioned themes using any drawing material such as crayons, water colour,etc.
The theme for the school level painting competition are:
- Stop River Pollution
- Nirmal Nadi
- Contamination of Ground water with Arsenic and other contamination issues.
Eligibility Criteria
- Gender: Both
- Region: All India
- Class/Age: Class 6,7 and 8
Details:
- The painting competition is open to students of class 6-8 of all the schools in India.
- Students who have won 1st,2nd & 3rd prizes at State/UT level competition in previous years (i.e. 2010, 2011 2012 & 2013) are not eligible for participation
- The consolation prize winners of previous years can participate
Reward
At School Level
The State and National level winners will be awarded cash prizes and all participants in School, State and National level will receive Certificate of Participation from the Ministry of Water Resources
At State Level
The cash prize award and a certificate of merit to the winners
- First Prize : Rs. 10,000
- Second Prize: Rs. 8,000
- Third Prize: Rs. 5,000
- Ten consolation Prizes (Rs.1000) would also be awarded
To all the participants
- All 50 participants in each state would be paid an incidental charge of Rs. 1000 for attending the state level competition
- Travel Expenses: Participant along with 2 parents/guardians would be paid to and fro fare by ordinary bus/ sleeper class rail fare

- All participants from each state would bee paid a lump sum amount of Rs. 3000 for food & lodging, transport and other incidental charges.
- Travel Expenses: Participant along with 2 parents/guardians would be paid to and fro fare by ordinary bus/ AC III Tier.
How to Apply
All applications have to be sent through school. No individual student or Parent can directly send the painting
Level 1
School level competition:
- To be conducted by September 30, 2016
- The school level competition is for the students of 6th, 7th and 8th standards only.
- The schools will organize painting competition of 2 hours duration at their schools on September 30,2016 in their schools
- Paintings may be made preferably on A4/A3 size paper, though there is no restriction on type / size of paper, paints, crayons, water colour, etc. Drawing materials for the school level would be provided by the schools/students and no cost in this regard would be borne by the Ministry of Water Resources / CGWB.
- Paintings not signed by the school Principal or sent directly by student / parent will not be accepted.
- All paintings must contain the following details at the back of the drawing sheet - which includes Signature of the Principal in the following format.

State Level Competition
- To be conducted on November 2016
- The state level competition will be conducted with 50 students whose paintings are selected as best 50 paintings from amongst the entries of the school level painting competition.
- Theme for the State Level Painting Competition will be disclosed at the venue.
- Drawing materials for the school level would be provided by the schools/students and no cost in this regard would be borne by the Ministry of Water Resources / CGWB.
- All 50 students must submit 3 latest passport size coloured photographs, preferably along with soft copy.
- All students should bring identity proof or letter from respective school principal
Level 3
National Level Competition
- The winners of first, second and third prizes from each state/UT would be called to New Delhi for the competition
- Drawing sheet size provided to the students will be of 380 mm x 510 mm size

Selection Process
Selection at the school level
- The school level competition should concluded by September 30, 2016
- 3 best paintings are to be selected from each school and the same are to be forwarded to the concerned Nodal Officer of CGWB.
- The selection of the three best paintings from each school is to be done by the respective school authorities.
Date for painting Competition at the State Level: November 2016
Date for painting Competition at the National level: January 2017
Selection at the National Level
- Selection of the prize winners and consolation prize winners are to be completed on the same day by juries and winners awarded.
- Results of the competition would be declared at 1600 hours on the day of the competition
Venue for National Level Competition: ICAR, PUSA, New Delhi.
