AIIMS New Delhi Admission to M.Sc., M.Biotechnology, Nursing & B.Sc (Hons) Nursing (PB) Courses 2016

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for AIIMS New Delhi Entrance Exam for MSc BSc Nursing Admission 2016. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will conduct the entrance exam for admission into various M.Sc / M.Biotechnology / Nursing and Bachelor of Optometry / B.Sc (Hons) Medical Technology in Radiography / B.Sc (Hons) Nursing / B.Sc Nursing (Post-Basic) Courses for the academic year 2016-17




Courses Available & No. of Seats


Undergraduate Courses
  • B.Sc (Hons) Nursing (Applicable to all seven AIIMS) [77 Seats*]
  • B.Sc (Hons) Para-Medical Courses viz.: B.Sc (Hons) Optometry (19), B.Sc (Hons) Medical Technology in Radiography (09 Seats)
  • B.Sc Nursing (Post-Certificate) (15 Seats)
**The seat distribution for 10 seats (non-tranferable for open admission) for candidate’s in-regular service at AIIMS, New Delhi will be SC-02, ST-01, OBC-02 & UR-05


Duration of Course
  • M.Sc/M.Biotech/M.Sc Nursing: 2 years
  • B.Sc (Hons) Nursing: 4 years
  • B.Sc (Hons) Paramedical: 3 years (Duration for Bachelor of optometry is (3+1)
  • B.Sc Nursing (Post Certificate): 2 years



Eligibility Criteria


B.Sc (Hons) Nursing & B.Sc (Hons) Para-Medical Courses A candidate is eligible to appear in Entrance Examination if he/she:

  • Is an Indian citizen
  • Has attained or will attain the age of 17 (seventeen) years as on the 31st of December of the year of admission
  • Has passed the 12th class under the 10+2 scheme/Senior School Certificate Exam or Intermediate Science or an equivalent exam from a recognized University/Board of any Indian State with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
  • Candidates for B.Sc (Hons) Para-Medical Courses should have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with English, Physics, Chemistry and either Biology or Mathematics


B.Sc (Hons) Nursing


Must be 55% for Gen/OBC (50% in case of SCs/STs categories) in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology



B.Sc Nursing (Post-Certificate) The candidate must have:
  • Passed 12th class under 10+2 system of education or an equivalent exam from a recognized board/university (Those who have passed 10+1 on or before 1986 are also eligible)
  • Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and be an "A" Grade Nurse, registered with State Nurses Registration Council. In case of male nurse, he should have obtained a certificate in General Nursing and instead of training in Midwifery, training in any two subjects out of the following; (a) Venereal Disease Nursing; (b) Tuberculosis Nursing; (c) Ophthalmic Nursing; (d) Psychiatric Nursing; (e) Operation Theatre Techniques. He/She should be an "A' Grade Nurse registered with the State Nurses Registration Council
  • Worked for a minimum period of three years as a Staff Nurse in a recognized hospital or as a Public Health Nurse, after obtaining the above mentioned certificate



Schemes of Competitive Exams



B.Sc (Hons) Nursing (Common to all AIIMS) & B.Sc (Hons) Para-Medical Courses: The seats will be filled strictly on merit on the basis of the marks secured by the candidates at the entrance exam conducted by the Institute


  • The entrance exam will be conducted in English language only
  • Entrance Exam for B.Sc (Hons) Nursing for all AIIMS will be conducted in the following cities: Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Delhi, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Thiruvananthapuram
  • The Entrance Exam for B.Sc (Hons) Para-medical courses will be conducted only at Delhi
  • The scheme of entrance exam for each course is as under:



B.Sc (Hons) Nursing (Common to all AIIMS):
 One paper of 2 hours duration and consisting of four parts containing objective type (multiple choice) questions, with distribution of marks as under:


  • Part A - Physics 30 marks
  • Part B - Chemistry 30 marks
  • Part C - Biology 30 marks
  • Part D - General Knowledge 10 marks



B.Sc (Hons) Para-Medical courses: a) One paper of 1½ hours duration and consisting of objective type (multiple choice) questions in four parts of 30 questions each in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The candidate may attempt either Biology part or Mathematics part


Based on the result of the entrance exam, separate merit lists will be prepared for the Gen, OBC, SC/ST categories



Reservation of Seats


  • Reservation of seats at AIIMS, New Delhi is as follows OBC - 27%, SC - 15%, ST - 7.5%; if requisite number of suitable candidates is not available to fill up the seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes, candidates belonging to the SC & Vice-versa will fill the same

Application Fee



  • General/Unreserved (UR): Rs.1000/-
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): Rs.1000/-
  • Scheduled Caste (SC): Rs.800/-
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): Rs.800/-
  • Orthopedic/Physically Handicapped (OPH): Nil
  • Mode of Payment: Credit/debit card or Computer Generated Challan form any branch of State Bank of India (SBI)

  • All Applicants are required to read the Prospectus and Help Manual carefully before online registration and ensure that no column is left blank. Please save, download and print the Registration Slip
  • The copy of registration slip should be retained till the completion of Admission Process
  • Online Submission of Application Form: A candidate seeking admission to the Entrance Exam is required to submit his/her application in the prescribed format available online with the Prospectus on www.aiimsexams.org
  • The cost of Application Form includes the fee for entrance examination which is non-refundable and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained; thecandidate is required to go through the prospectus carefully and acquaint himself/herself with all requirements with regard to filling in of the online application form
  • Online Registration: After selecting the online registration, fill the details asked for, step by step and deposit the prescribed fee in the designated Bank through a Challan or debit/credit card. Follow the Instructions scrupulously
