About


University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), Panjab University, Chandigarh invites admission application for four-year programmes for the academic session 2017-18.


Panjab University Chandigarh conducts Panjab University Tourism & Hospitality Aptitude Test (PUTHAT) for admission to Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) and Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM) at University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM)


Courses Offered


The UIHTM offers Four Year Programmes in:

  • BHMCT (Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology)
  • BTTM (Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management)



Number of Seats


  • Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology - 60 Seats + 06 NRI Seats
  • Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management - 30 Seats + 03 NRI Seats



The admission to both the above courses will be on the basis of the Merit of Panjab University Tourism and Hospitality Aptitude Test (PUTHAT) to be conducted by Panjab University.


Eligibility Criteria



  • The Panjab University Tourism and Hospitality Aptitude Test (PUTHAT) shall be open to all such candidates who have passed (up to the Academic Session 2016-2017) in the 10+2 Exam of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or its equivalent Exam conducted by a recognized Board/University/Council with not less than 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/BC/PwD Categories) in the aggregate and English as one of the Compulsory Subjects.
  • The eligibility of a candidate will be provisional at every stage of the admission process. It will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure his/her eligibility and fulfillment of various conditions for admission as prescribed in the rules/regulations of Panjab University
  • Admission will be cancelled at any stage in case the candidate is not found eligible, even subsequently
Note: The candidates who have passed/appeared in 10+2 Examinations of Mahila Gram Vidyapith, Allahabad are ineligible to appear in PUTHAT-2017, as this institution has been derecognised by Panjab University, Chandigarh. 


The examinations conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Delhi, included in the booklet of recognised exams, have also been deleted from the Booklet


How to Apply





  • Step 1: Register Online.
  • Step 2: Note down your Login Id and Password (login details will be sent to your registered Email Id also).
  • Step 3: Take print out of bank slip (bank slip can also be downloaded from account using login id and password).
  • Step 4: Deposit fee using website generated bank slip at any SBI branch, minimum one day after printing of bank slip.
  • Step 5: Login again after 24 Hrs. of depositing fee and upload scanned passport size photograph, signature, fill other important information and Save and Confirm. (Once you confirm the form, you will not be allowed to change information in the form)
  • Step 6: Download your Admit Card after April 25, 2017

Exam Pattern


  • The paper for PUTHAT will consist of 100 questions of one mark each. 
  • Total time allocated to the paper will be 90 minutes. 
  • The medium of exam shall be English only. There shall be negative marking i.e., 25% marks will be deducted for every wrong answer



The distribution of marks for the respective components of testing would be as:

i) English Aptitude - 30 Questions
ii) Current Affairs and General Awareness - 20
iii) Reasoning Ability - 20 Questions
iv) Hospitality Industry Awareness - 30 Questions

Note: The merit list of candidates appearing for PUTHAT shall be prepared on the basis of marks secured in the PUTHAT only

  • Date of Availability of Prospectus and Application Form: 07th March 2017
  • Last date for submission of information on the website to generate the Bank Challan: April 13, 2017 
  • Last date for deposit of fee in any branch of State bank of India using website generated challan: April 17, 2017
  • Last date for uploading of photograph, signature with rest of the information on the website: April 19, 2017 
  • No correction will be entertained/ made regarding photograph, signature and any other information (for completed forms only) after: April 21, 2017 upto 5:00 p.m.
  • Final date by which Roll No. will be available online: April 25, 2017*
  • Date  of Holding Entrance Test: April 30, 2017
  • Tentative date by which the result may be declared: May 10, 2017 to May 12, 2017
  • Dates for the conduct of counselling: 1st Counselling: June 27, 2017; 2nd Counselling: July 06, 2017
