National Talent Search Exam 2017-18

About


National Talent Search Exam NTSE 2017-18 is a scholarship exam conducted by NCERT. NTSE scholarship was constituted in 1963 by NCERT. Lakhs of students appear in the exam and close to 1,000 students are awarded the NTSE scholarship. These students receive NTSE Scholarship from Class 11 till their PhD studies. 


It is a merit based scholarship and not means based scholarship and not means based scholarship. National Talent Search Exam NTSE 2017-18 are for those students who are studying in class 10 is meant to identify the nurture talent. The examination is conducted every year at two levels: Stage-I State Level and Stage-II National Level.

Purpose of NTSE Scholarship



  • NTSE Scholarship is providede for higher studies
  • The scholarship is provided to students pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level.
  • In the case of professional courses like medicie and engineering, the scholarship is upto the second-degree level subject.


Eligibility Criteria



  • Gender: Both
  • Region: All Inida and NRI Sudents
  • Class: Those students who are studying in class 10 this year 

Details:


  • The scholarship is for higher studies in   Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Language Commerce, Vocational studies and fine arts.


NTSE 2017 Reservation



  • SC Category- 15%
  • ST Category- 7.5%
  • Physically Challenged-  3%  Benchmark disability of which, one per cent shall be reserved


Rewards


Around one thousand scholarships are awarded for different stages of education as follow:


  • Scholarships of Rs. 1250/- per month for Class-XI to XII.
  • Scholarship of Rs. 2000/- per month for Under graduation and Post-graduates.
  • Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D.is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.


How to Apply



  • You may contact the State/ UT Liaison officer for procuring application form. The completed application form should be signed by the Principal of the School much before the last date of submission. 
  • The candidates as well as the Principal of the school must adhere to the last date for submission of the Application Form. Different states may have different last dates for submission.
  • Please confirm from the liaison officer of your state, the address at which the completed forms are to be submitted.
  • You may contact the State/UT Liaison officer for procuring application form.

Fees



  • States and Union Territories may notify the fee required which will be paid for the Stage-I examination. Therefore, before submitting the application form, you may find out the fees charged for Stage-I examination and also the mode of payment from the respective State Liaison Officers (LOs). However, NCERT does not charge any fee for Stage-II examination.
  • Indian Students Studying Abroad in Class X can appear directly for Stage-II NTS examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure which is available on the NCERT website
  • Candidates may fill up the application form, available on the NCERT website and send to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of previous examination.
  • NCERT does not charge any fee for Stage. 


Selection Process



  • Stage-I, selection will be done by States/UTs and those who qualify Stage-I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.


Exam Pattern


The tentative pattern of written examination will be as follows:


  • At Stage-II (National Level) there will be negative marking in each paper. For each wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted. No marks will be deducted forr unattempted questions.
  • Qualifying marks for candidates from General Category is 40% in each paper and for candidates from SC, ST and PH is 32% in each paper.
  • Qualifying in nature and marks obtained for Language Test will not be counted for final merit.


Submission of Application



  • The completed application form should be signed by the Principal of the school much before the last date of submission. The candidate as well as the Principal of the school must adhere to the last date for submission of the application form.
  • Different states may have different last dates for submission. confirm the same form the respective Liaison Offices of your State/UT
  • All queries related to application form should be directed to State Liaison Offices.
  • No application has to be sent to NCERT.
