National Painting competition 2016 for school children on Energy Conservation

Ministry of Power has taken an initiative and has been organizing Painting competition on Energy Conservation for students since the year 2005.The competition is held in three stages, namely, School, State and National Level since 2005. 


The objective of the painting competition is to make children aware about the need of conserving energy and at the same time educate and involve parents in this activity. Cash prizes worth Rs 95,000 per State/UT per Category (Rs. 34.20 lakhs for 36 States/UTs) will be distributed to State level winners on day of the Competition on 9th November,2016.


For winners of both the categories of National Competition, cash prizes worth Rs. 10.35 lakhs will be awarded by the Ministry of Power on 14th December, 2016 which is also celebrated as National Energy Conservation day in the presence of eminent dignitaries holding very high positions in the Government.


Students of 4th, 5th& 6th standard students under Category ‘A’ and for 7th, 8th& 9th standard students under Category ‘B’ are eligible to participate in the competition.


The National Painting competition for students of class 4-9 is organized at three levels:

  • School level
  • State level
  • National level

School Principals are requested to organize Painting Competition at School level for 4th , 5th & 6th standard students under Category ‘A’ and for 7th, 8th & 9th standard students under Category ‘B’ of their respective school for 2-hour duration. Students can use any size of paper, but preferably A4 size drawing sheet, and students can pick any one of the following Theme Topics:

Eligibility Criteria



  • Gender:  both
  • Region: All India and schools located outside India having affiliation with Indian School Education Board
  • Class/ Age: Class 4 to 9
Details:

  • 1st, 2nd ,3rd Prize winners of state level painting competition of Category 'A' of the last 2 years (2014 & 2015) are not eligible to participate in this year competition.
  • 1st,2nd ,3rd Prize winners of state level painting competition of Category 'B' of last year (2015) are not eligible to participate in this year competition.
  • The Consolation Prize winners of State/ UT level Painting Competition of Category A& B may participate but they would be considered for prizes only if they win 1st/2nd/3rd Prize at the State level.

 

Rewards


The Common Committee of Experts/Jury of the two categories of that particular State/UT will select 13 best paintings for respective Categories separately for each category on the day of competition itself.

Other benefits to State level participants

  • The selected students reporting at the venue of competition will be paid Rs 2000/- each in cash by the nodal official on the day of their participation at State level painting competition and reimburse sleeper AC Chair Car class/3rd AC rail-fare/ State Roadways bus fare from the shortest route for self and two guardians. 
  • The Nodal official will also provide refreshments/lunch to the participating students and their guardians.
  • Competition for Category ‘B’ will be terminated at State level and the first three selected entries from each State/UT to be sent to BEE by 18th November 2016 for their selection for National level prizes.


Other benefits to national level participants

  • Boarding & Lodging, to & fro sleeper class / AC Chair Car / 3rd AC rail-fare or State Roadways bus fare by the shortest route for 105 participants and two guardians of Category ‘A’ and 12 winners of Category ‘B’ along with one guardian per participant will be reimbursed. 
  • In addition, each participating student will be paid a sum of 2000/- as incidentals and given a participation certificate.


For schools located outside India


  •  1st Prize Amount in Rs Equivalent to USD 500
  •  2nd Prize Amount in Rs Equivalent to USD 300
  •  3rd Prize Amount in Rs Equivalent to USD 200

Schools with 100% participation: Name of schools who have recorded 100% participation will be published in the booklet prepared by BEE.


How to Apply



  • The participation in the national level competition will be started with the school level painting competition. The student can participate only through school and no individual participation would be there.
  • There is no participation fees for the painting competition.


Painting Competition at the School Level


The school has to conduct a 2 hours painting comp. for class 4-6 under category A and class 7-9 under category B. 
The school then has to select 2 best paintings each from Category A and B.
Two best paintings along with information on the total no. of participants, percentage
participation of students in both Categories i.e ‘A’ & ‘B’ ( as applicable) and send them to the
address of the Nodal Officer of their respective State/UT before 30th September, 2016.

The back of the painting should carry the following information:

Selection Process


 Criteria for evaluation of the painting at the school level:

  • Relevance of the theme depicting the selected topics.
  • Execution of concept/theme.
  • overall visual appeal, handling of given space and use of appropriate colour combination.

State Level


  • A common committee/jury comprising of 5 to 7 renowned persons in Art, drawing teachers, officials from organizers and State government education department will be constituted by the Nodal officials for selecting up to 50 best paintings each for Category ‘A’ & ‘B’ out of the total numbers of the paintings sent by the respective School Principal of the State/UT.
  • Nodal officials will also communicate with the respective school principals by 1st November, 2016


National Level



  • First 3 winners of category A of state level from each state will be invited to Delhi to compete at national level.
  • Three winners of category of category B will be evaluated at Delhi.
  • National Level competition date- December 12,2016
  • The participating students at the National level painting competition will be requested to stay back till 14th December, 2015 so that they can participate in the National Energy Conservation Day function and winning Students can receive the prizes from the Chief Guest.
