Online applications are invited from students belonging to minority communities (Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains) pursuing technical or professional courses at graduate/post graduate level in the institutions in the Punjab State approved by the competent authority under Merit-cum-Means Based Scholarship Scheme for the Session 2016-17
Eligibility Criteria
- Annual income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lacs from all sources.
- Scholarship is awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
- Renewal of scholarship depends on successful completion of the course during the preceding year and securing not less than 50% marks.
- A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the same course.
- A student residing in Punjab State is entitled for scholarship under the quota of the State irrespective of his place of study.
- Income certificate should be on self-certification basis by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper for self-employed parents/guardian and from employer for employed parents /guardian.
Rate of Scholarship Scheme for Minority Students
- Maintenance allowance from date of admission (for 10 months only): Rs 10,000 per annum (Rs.1000 pm); Rate for day-Scholar - Rs.5000/- per annum (Rs.500 pm)
- Course Fee* Rs 20,000/- per annum or actual whichever is less; (Rate for day-Scholar): Rs 20,000/- per annum or actual whichever is less
Total: Rate of hosteller - Rs 30,000/-; Rate for day-Scholar - Rs 25,000/-
*Full course fee will be re-imbrused for National Level Institutions such as IIT's, IIM's etc.
How to Apply
- The eligible students can apply online on the website http://www.minorityaffairs.gov.in/ScholarshipSchemes Students will forward their applications online to the institution and will take a print out of the same.
- The print out along with all requisite documents (as prescribed in the print out) will be submitted to the concerned institution.
- Student will get a temporary ID, which he/she retain/keep with him/her any further correspondence etc
- The Institution will scrutinize and forward all these applications online by login on the same website with User IDs and Passwords (provided to them earlier by Welfare Department).
Note: Students /institutes are advised to read the "FAQ's and Information for Institutes" available on the home-page of the website carefully before filling online applications and scrutiny by the institutes
