About
PCRA Painting & Essay Writing Competition 2016 for school children is being organized by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) & Natural Gas, Govt. of India, is committed to make oil conservation a National Movement.
As a part of its mandate, various literary and cultural events are conducted for school students. The Essay writing, Painting and Quiz competitions aim to raise awareness among youth about practical conservation tips for the conservation of Petroleum products in industrial, transportation, agriculture and domestic sectors, and how to practice such conservation in their daily lives.
The winner gets a fully paid trip to Japan.
Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can participate

Eligibility Criteria
- Gender: Both
- Region: All India
- Class/Age: Class 6,7,8 and 9
Details:
Essay Competition:
Candidates studying from Class 8 to 10 are eligible to participate
Painting Competition:
- Junior: Class 5-7
- Senior: Class 8-10
School can conduct competitions in any one or both the categories. However, a minimum of 30 students must participate in each category in which the school submits its entry.
Candidates can participate via their Schools only. No individual participation is allowed.
Schools can participate in both essay and Painting competitions
Non-Eligibility
- Children of employees of PCRA are not eligible.
Reward
The awards will be distributed in the inaugural function of the Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight 2017, during the 2nd half of January 2017.
Prizes for Painting
- First Prize: Rs. 30,000/- and a laptop plus an all expense paid Study trip to Japan.
- Second Prize: Rs. 20,000/- and a TAB
- Third Prize: Rs. 12,500/- and a TAB
- Special appreciation of Rs. 5,000/- each to the next 10 best paintings.
Prizes for Essay Writing
- First Prize: Rs. 30,000/- and a laptop plus an all expense paid Study trip to Japan.
- Second Prize: Rs. 20,000/- and a TAB
- Third Prize: Rs. 12,500/- and a TAB
A certification of appreciation will be awarded to the Best Entry of each School in each of the languages.

About the Painting Competition
- Use only A3 size art sheet. The work may be executed using pencils, pencil colours, crayons, water colours etc.
- Use of Collage/Patchwork is not permitted in the paintings at all levels of competition.

About the Essay Writing Competition
- Theme of the Essay writing Competition: "Save Fuel for better Environment and Health".
- Schools can conduct Essay competitions in one or more of the following languages- Hindi, English,Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Maithili, Dogri, Nepali, Bodo and Santhali.
- ONE student can participate in ONE of the 23 languages
- Essay should not exceed 700 words.
- Student must submit essay in his/her own handwriting.
Submission of the Paintings and Essays by the School
- Schools have to send the scan copy of the essay or photograph of the best paintings along with an undertaking as given in Annexure 1 via mail to the mentioned mail ID; competitions2016@pcra.org
- The mail should reach immediately after the declaration of result in school and latest by October 15, 2016

- The mail attachments should not exceed 5MB
- Format for painting: JGP Format only
- Format for Essay: PDF Format
Selection Process
- The shortlisted paintings/essays sent by the school will then be examined by the Jury appointed by Petroleum Conservation Research Association.
- The decision of the Jury/Expert committee will be final and binding in respect of all matters concerning the competition.
- Plagiarism will lead to cancellation of entry
- The painting entries submitted would be the sole property of PCRA, with rights to use and right to edit for any purpose it considers appropriate.
Important dates
- Online registration/Application: August 16,2016 to October 10, 2016
- Final Result Declaration: December 2016
- Distribution of Awards: Second half of January 2017
