About
Popular children’s magazine Bal Bharati is being published by Publications Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting since 1948. Keeping in mind the interests of the children, the magazine has been organizing a number of competitions.
In order to encourage their creative talent, essays are invited in the month of November coinciding with Children’s Day on different topics. The competition which started in 2004, limited to children from Delhi region up to class X only, became a National level competition from 2008, open for children in the age group of 10 to 16 years.
The competition which aims to test the originality and creativity of children saw a record number of ten thousand entries in 2013. In order to adjudge the winners a ten member selection committee consisting of renowned people from the world of children’s literature was constituted. This jury selected the first three winners besides ten for appreciation prize.
The candidate participating in Bal Bharti essay Competition 2016 will have to write a minimum 1500 word's essay on one of the following topics:
- "Meri beti mera maan- beti bachao beti padhao"
- "Swachchh Tan, Swachch man: Safia Bahrat- Swachchh bharat"
- "Tilasmi Dunia Dhwani Tarango ki- Digital India"
- "Aao ganga Snana Kare- Namami gange"
- " Apka Hath Jagananath- Skill in India"
- " Hum smart, City smart, Desh smart- Smart city"
All topics are based on the various plans ran by the government of India. Top 13 essays will be selected by a jury of judges for the reward. The last date for submission of thee essay is December 30, 2016
Eligibility Criteria
- Gender: both
- Region: All India
- Class/Age: 10 to 16 years old
Details: The participants should be aged between 10 to 16 years old. The student must have been born after October 15, 2016 and before October 15, 2016
Reward
The top 13 selected participants will be rewarded as follows:

How to Apply
- Attested photocopy of the Birth certificate is required to be sent along with the essay. There is no fee for the submission of the essay. The essay will be submitted via post in the envelope. "Bal Bharti Nibandha Pratiyogta 2016" should be written on the front side of the envelope along with the application form.
- The candidates have to send a date of birth proof issued by the principal of the school.
Application Submission
The participants have to send their essay with the required attachment only via post until December 30, 2016.

Selection process
BBP Division will select a jury of judges to evaluate and select the top essay written by the participants. The top 13 essays will be selected for the reward by the jury of judges.
