The Porter Prize is one of Australia’s most lucrative and respected awards for poetry. It honours the life and work of the great Australian poet Peter Porter (1929–2010), an honoured contributor to ABR for many years.

Reward
- First Prize: $5,000 and Arthur Boyd’s etching and aquatint The lady and the unicorn, 1975
- The shortlisted poets will each receive AU$500.

Selection Process
- Judging is completely anonymous.
- The judges are Luke Davies, Lisa Gorton (ABR’s Poetry Editor), and Kate Middleton.
- A list of 6 shortlisted maximum of six poems will be announced and those poems will appear in the March or April 2016 issue of ABR.
- The winner will be announced later in March or April at a ceremony to which all entrants will be invited.
- The judges’ decision would be final and abiding
