NDA (I) 2017 Application Form will be available through online process only from 18th Jan, 2017. 

NDA is a national level examination managed by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This examination is organized for recruiting appropriate candidates in Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. 

This examination is organized two times in a year i.e. NDA-I (23rd April 2017) and NDA-II (10th Sep 2017).

• The candidates joining Indian Naval Academy would undergo 4 years B. Tech Course and old be given an opportunity to join Executive and Technical Branches of the Navy subject to availability of vacancies.

• NDA Exam (written) is of 900 marks and interview is also of 900 marks thus is equal weightage foe both the written test and the NDA interview.

• NDA exam is undertaken by the students of Class 12 or who have completed class 12 or equivalent. The students who are selected as an NDA cadet are awarded BA/B.Tech Degree based on specific criteria.

• NDA exam date: 23 April, 2017

Latest Update: The UPSC will release the notification for N.D.A & N.A Exam (I) on 18 January on its official website. Once the notification will release, the candidates can apply for N.D.A & N.A Exam (I) through officail website of UPSC.

About NDA & NDA Exam

• The National Defense Academy (NDA) is the joint services academy of the Indian Armed Forces. NDA is the first tri-service academy in the world and is rated amongst the best in the world.

• Here the cadets are of three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air force train together before they go on to pre-commissioning training in their respective service academies after completing the programme.

Army cadets go to IMA at Dehradun for training.

Air Force cadets to AFA Dundigal, Hyderabad for training

Naval cadets to INA, Ezhimala, Kerela for training

• National Defense Academy & Naval Academy Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi. NDA exam is also used for the selection of candidates into Indian Ir force.

NDA 2017 Number of seats

The total number of seats offered by UPSC for NDA and Naval Academy is 375. The allocation of seats for each category is given below.

Admission to the above courses will be made on the basis of the results of the written Examination which will further be followed by Intelligence and Personality Test by the Services Selection Board (SSB).

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

The candidates should either be a:

• Citizen of India

• Subject of Bhutan

• Subject of Nepal

• A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1 jan 1962, with an intention of setting in India.

• A person of India rogin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka & east African countries of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi with an intention of setting in India.

Age Limit, Sex and Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 02nd July 1998 and not later than 01st July 2001 are eligible

Physical requirements

The NDA physical requirements are very important for the selection in NDA. The candidates applying for NDA must have the following physical requirements.

Height- Minimum height 157.5 cms (162.5 cms for Air Force). The relaxation of height is applicable for the following candidates.

• For individuals belonging to hills of North Eastern Regions of India, Garhwal and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable height is 5 cms less.

• In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms.

• Height relaxation up to 2.5 cms can be allowed in the case where Medical Board certifies that the candidate is likely to grow and come up to the required standard.

Academic Qualification: 

(i) For Army Wing of National Defense Academy : 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University

(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defense Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy : 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University. Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

NOTE 1 : Candidates appearing in the 11th class exam are not eligible for this examination.

NOTE 2 : Those candidates who have yet to qualify in the 12th class or equivalent examination and are allowed to appear in the UPSC Examination should note that this is only a special concession given to them.

NOTE 3 : Candidates who are debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of Commission in the Defence Services shall not be eligible for admission to the examination and if admitted, their candidature will be cancelled.

NOTE 4 : Those candidates who have failed INSB/PABT earlier are not eligible for Air Force.

Application Fees

Candidates (excepting female SC/ST/PH candidates/ Sons of JCOs/NCOs/ORs specified in Note 2 in the notification who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur/ Sate Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

For the applicants in whose case payments details have not been received from the bank they will be treated as fictitious payment cases and a list of all such applicants shall be made available on the commission website within two weeks after the last day of submission of online application

The applicants shall be required to submit the proof of their fee payment within 10 days from the date of such communication either by hand or by speed post to the commission

On receipt of documentary proof, genuine fee payment cases will be considered and their applications will be revived, if they are otherwise eligible.

Candidates should note that the application form will be available from 18th January, 2017.

Selection Process

• The Union Public Service Commission shall prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as fixed by the commission at their discretion.

• Such candidates shall appear before a Services Selection Board for Intelligence and Personality Test where candidates for the Army/Navy wings of the NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy will be assessed on Officers Potentiality and those for the Air Force in Pilot Aptitude Test and for Officers Potentiality

The NDA Selection Process is done in Three stages. The Criteria for each stage is given below. Candidates are advised to see the details for selection for each stage which is mentioned below.

Written Test

• The first stage of the selection is written test. The candidate have to appear on NDA written test have to qualify the written exam to undergo for further selection process.

SSB Interview

• The second stage of the selection process is SSB interview which will be held after written test. If the candidates qualify the written examination they are required to appear for the SSB interview at the SSB Centre specified.

Intelligence and Personality Test

Facilitation Counter: In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their applications, candidature etc candidates can contact UPSC’s facilitation counter near gate ‘C’ of its campus in person or over Tel 011-23385271/011-23381125/011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hr

The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. The question papers (Test Booklets) OF MATHEMATICS AND PART "b" OF GENERAL ABILITY TESTS WILL BE SET BILINGUALLY IN HINDI AS WELL AS  English.

• In the question papers, wherever necessary, questions involving the metric system of Weights and Measures only will be set.

• Candidates must write the papers in their own hand. In no circumstances will they be allowed the help of a scribe to write answers for them.

• The Commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects at the examination.

• The candidates are not permitted to use calculator or Mathematical or logirithmic table for answering objective type papers (Test Booklets). They should not therefore, bring the same inside the Examination Hall.

Results

Announcement of the Results of NDA (I) 2017 Written Examination, Interview of qualified candidates, announcement of final results and admission to the training courses of the finally qualified candidates :

The Union Public Service Commission shall prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as fixed by the Commission in their discretion. 

Such candidates shall appear before a Services Selection Board for intelligence and Personality Test where candidates for the Army/Navy wings of the NDA and 10+2 Executive branch of Naval Academy will be assessed on officers potentiality and those for the Air Force in Pilot Aptitude Test and for officers potentiality.

Admit Card 2017

NDA Admit Card 2017 will be available from March 2017 to download for the NDA and Exam 1. NDA Admit Card 2017 will be available on the official website only for those eligible candidates who have submitted their duly filled application forms before the due date.

Admit Card will not be dispatched through the post, so no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
