Common Law Admission Test 2016 | CLAT Entrance Exam Date 2016

  • The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an All India Entrance Test for admission to Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programmes (LLB & LLM) for the academic year 2016
  • CLAT 2016 Organising University: Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU) Lucknow
  • The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all India entrance examination conducted on rotation by 16 National Law Universities (NLUs) for admissions to their under-graduate and post-graduate degree programmes (LL.B & LL.M)

Programme Offered

The Under-Graduate Programme offered by the National Law Universities:


The Sixteen NLUs offer a five-year integrated under-graduate law courses leading to the award of 
  • B.A. LL.B (Hons), 
  • B.Sc LL.B (Hons), 
  • BBA LLB (Hons), 
  • BSW LLB (Hons), 
  • B.Com LLB (Hons) degrees. 
  • While BA LL.B (Hons) is offered by most of the universities, 
  • B.Sc LLB (Hons) Course is offered by WBNUJS (Kolkata), NLU (Jodhpur) and GNLU (Gandhinagar); 
  • BBA LLB (Hons) is offered by NLU (Jodhpur), GNLU (Gandhinagar), CNLU (Patna) and NLUO (Cuttack); 
  • whereas BSW LLB (Hons) and B.Com LLB (Hons) degree courses are offered by GNLU (Gandhinagar) alone




Eligibility for CLAT 2016


  • Educational Qualification for UG Programme: A candidate should have obtained Higher Secondary School/ Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognized Board with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST candidates), as prescribed by the respective Statutes of the participating Universities
  • Age for UG Programme: A candidate should be below 20 years of age as on 01st July 2016 (22 years in case of SC/ST and Persons with Disability candidates, as prescribed by the respective Statutes of the participating Universities




Exam Pattern CLAT 2016


The CLAT-2016 Question Paper for UG courses shall multiple choice type questions as per the following scheme
  • Maximum Marks: 200
  • Duration of CLAT-2016: 02:00 Hours
  • Total Number of Questions: 200
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 Mark/wrong answer

Subject areas with weightage
  • English including Comprehension: 40 Marks
  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs: 50 Marks
  • Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability): 20 Marks
  • Legal Aptitude: 50 Marks
  • Logical Reasoning: 40 Marks




How to Apply



  • For the CLAT 2016 examination, the candidates need to apply online through the official website on the prescribed date. Beside online registration, no other mode of submitting the application would be permitted
  • The application form will be available from 01st week of January 2016, candidates can check our website for regular updates onCLAT 2016
  • Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab (Website www.rgnul.ac.in), is conducting the CLAT 2016
  • The candidates must have to remit the application fee (Rs.4000/- for general candidates and Rs.3500/- for reserve category) by online. The online payment can be made through the CLAT website with net banking, debit card or credit card



Application Fee

  • The candidates has to pay the application fee for general OBC/PWD and other category candidates Rs.4000/- while submitting the Application Form of CLAT-2016
  • The fee is Rs.3500/- in case of the SC/ST category candidates
