iDAT 2016| IIAD Design Aptitude Test| Indian Institute of Art & Design

About iDAT by IIAD

  • Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) invites applications for admissions into its courses offered at New Delhi campus for the academic session 2016-17. The notification for Indian Institute of Art & Design IIAD Design Aptitude Test iDAT 2016 has been announced. 
  • Admissions are based on merit of candidates determined by the performance of applicants in iDAT 2016, Personal Portfolio & Personal Interview
  • The Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) in collaboration with Kingston University, London offers Bachelor degree programmes at its campus in New Delhi

  1. Fashion Design
  2. Interior Architecture & Design (also on basis of NATA)
  3. Communication Design


iDAT 2016 is the entrance examination for admission to Fashion Design, Interior Architecture and Design and Communication Design


Who is Eligible to Apply?


  • Candidates who have passed or are awaiting the results of the CBSE/ISC/IB (or any other equivalent board) 10+2 examination in any discipline
  • Candidates who have recently appeared for the examination and are awaiting their results may also apply
  • Candidates must have an interest in and a flair for art and design; any additional knowledge or experience in drawing/sketching, model making and visual art forms would be an asset towards your admission



Selection Process


  • The IIAD follows a TWO-STEP evaluation procedure for admission to its courses. Candidates will have to clear:
  • The IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT)
  • A comprehensive interview and portfolio assessment before our panel of art and design professionals
  • Students applying for Interior Architecture & Design can be exempted from the iDAT written test based on their NATA score. Should they attain the required cut off score they will progress directly for their Portfolio Assessment and Interview




iDAT


  • The iDAT is a mandatory two-hour test for all applicants, and will be administered at prescribed testing centres
  • The IIAD Admission Committee will review each student's aptitude for observation, drawing and design skills, imaginative and creative expression, and visual and communication strengths



iDAT Test Centers


Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna


iDAT examinees will need to bring:

(a)Pens/Pencils, 
(b) Dry colours (pencils/pastes), 
(c)A ruler, 
(d) A pen, 
(e) A gluestick and 
(f) A small pair of scissors

  • Personal interview: The applicant will be evaluated on his/her understanding of basic art and design concepts and industry awareness; emphasis will be placed on the individual's maturity, confidence and communication skills
  • Personal portfolio: Each candidate appearing for a personal interview MUST carry his/her creative portfolio; a quality portfolio carries 50% weightage of the total evaluation at the interview/assessment stage



How to Apply


Online Applications 

  • Online applicants are required to submit their applications through the IIAD admissions portal www.applytoiiad.com
  • The online application fee payment of Rs.1000/- must be made through credit/debit/net banking facilities of all major banks
  • Once you have clicked on the "final submit" button you will be able to view your completed form. On the top right hand corner of your completed form there is a download button available for you to download your completed form



Offline Applications

  • Offline applicants are required to downlaod application through the IIAD admissions portal www.applytoiiad.com
  • The application form and brochure is also available at select outlets at a fee of Rs.1000/-; if this fee is paid at the time of purchase from any outlet, the fee need not be paid again at the time of application submission
  • The application fee can be paid in cash or through a Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/- in the name of Teamwork Education Foundation, Payable at New Delhi. Mention your name, application form number and cell phone/contact number on the back of the demand draft
  • Forms can be procured from the following locations IIAD Campus, B-26 Okhla Phase 1, New Delhi -110020, ISBF Campus, 15A Ring Road, Lajpat Nagar IV, New Delhi-110024



Scholarship Application Form


  • IIAD offers 30 scholarships to meritorious students
  • Candidates with a 70% aggregate in the CBSE/ISC/IB (or any other equivalent board) 10+2 exam in any discipline may apply for scholarship
  • The final result will depend also on performance in the IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT), personal interview and portfolio review
  • The completed application form may either be sent by email to apply@iiad.edu.in or sent to the following address Admissions Team, B-26, Okhla Phase 1, New Delhi-110020 at the earliest




Important Dates

  • Application Forms Available: 12th October 2015
  • Last Date of Submission of Complete Application Forms at IIAD (online & offline): 30th April 2016
  • IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT + Portfolio + Interview): May 2016
  • Commencement of Session: August 2016
