Army Institute of Law (AIL) Mohali has invited applications for Entrance Test conducted & coordinated by The Punjabi University, Patiala for admission to Integrated BA LLB (5 year) and LLM (one year) Courses for Academic Year 2016-17.
Aims & Objectives
AIL, as a centre of excellence in the field of legal education, aims to (i) Impart high quality legal education and professional training to its students (ii) Enable its students to persue a career at the bar, Judicial Service, Civil Services, Armed Forces, Corporate Houses and such other organizations
Courses Offered
- B.A., LL.B (Five-Year Course): By the time a student completes the five year integrated Program he/she will be fully equipped with the knowledge and experience in the field of law required to become a full-fledged responsible member of the legal profession.
- LLM (One Year Course): The LLM Course has been adopted with the objective of imparting in depth knowledge in the field of law with specializations; the Program is designed to put students on a strong footing to undertake jobs in teaching & other sectors at the National and International level.
Seats for AIL Entrance Test 2016
- B.A., LL.B (Five Years Integrated Course): Total - 80 Seats (Wards of Army Personnel - 60, Punjab Residents Civil Category - 16, All India Civil Category - 04)
- LLM (One Years Course): Total - 15 Seats (Wards of Army Personnel - 12, Punjab Residents Civil Category - 02, All India Civil Category - 01)
Eligibility Criteria
- For B.A. LL.B Course: A candidate who has passed 10+2 exam from Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent examination recognized as such by the Punjabi University, Patiala, securing at least 45% marks vide Punjabi University Letter No.216468/Meeting-4 dated 7 May 2004.
- The applicant who have obtained 10+2 through open university systems directly, without having any basic qualifications for pursuing such studies, are not eligible for admission in Law Courses.
- a) The applicants appearing for the qualifying exam in March/April 2016 are allowed to take the Entrance Test-2016 provisionally, subject to the condition on that their candidature shall stand cancelled in case they do not pass the 10+2 March/April Exams 2016 with the required percentage of marks.
- b) Candidates passing the compartment papers of qualifying exam 10+2 subsequently shall not be eligible for admission even if a seat is available.
- For LLM Course: A Candidate who has passed LLB (3 Yrs/5 Yrs Course) recognized as such by the Punjabi University, Patiala securing at least 55% marks
Eligibility Criteria for Wards of Army Personnel
The applicant must fall into one of the following categories:
a) Army Personnel (Submit Certificate No.1)
- Wards of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous service in the Army
- Wards of ex Army personnel granted/awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/invalided medical board; this includes ward of the recruits who are medically boarded out and granted disability pension
- Wards of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge or release after ten years of service
Admission Process
The admission process shall start after the declaration of the result of the final year by the Punjabi University. The admission process shall be subject to the publication of the advertisement by the Punjabi University

How to Apply for LET-2016
Write all the particulars as mentioned in the certificates of 10th and 10+2. This form does not ensure the admission to the Institute. Any false Information filled in by the candidate shall amount to disqualification from the candidature.
Application procedure for LET-2016
To apply AIL Entrance Test candidates are required to choose either offline or online. The Online Application-cum-Admission Form comprises of two steps:
Step-I
- Go to AIL Website www.ail.ac.in
- Click on the link Admission 2016-17, Now, Online Registration Step-I will appear.
- Fill the basic information of the candidate (i.e. Category, Name of the Candidate, Date of Birth, Password, Father's Name, Email ID and Mobile No etc).
- The Registration No and Password will be automatically forwarded to the email ID provided by candidate; the same is required before filling online form Step-II.
- After submitting the above-mentioned information, a Bank Pay-in-Slip will be generated; the unique AIL Registration No will also be mentioned on the Bank Pay-in-Slip. Now go to any branch of Axis Bank and deposit fees of Rs.1250/- to the AIL account which is mentioned on the Bank Pay-in-Slip.
- After depositing your fee at the bank please check that journal number and branch code are clearly written on the bank slip. Online form step -II cannot be completed without journal number and branch code.

Before applying online, Scanned copy of the Passport Size Photograph (Size Maximum 120KB), Signature (Size Maximum 100KB), 10th DMC & Bank Receipt should be ready for filling the Online Form
