Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) Chandigarh offers admission into Bachelor of Clinical Optometry (B.Optom), B.Sc (Medical Laboratory Technology), B.Sc Medical Technology (X-Ray), B.Sc Medical Technology (Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Techniques) and Pre Hospital trauma technician (PTT) in Govt. Medical College, Chandigarh for the session 2016-17.
Candidates desirous of applying for more than one course are not required to submit separate application form

Admission to these courses will be strictly on the basis of rank/merit obtained in GMCH Combined Entrance Test (GCET-2016) to be conducted by Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh
Distribution of Seats
UT Chandigarh Pool (85%): Chandigarh Administration‘s circular No. 19/1/93/IH (3-99/11136) dated 9th June, 1999 provides that 85% seats of the total sanctioned intake of an institution will be filled up from amongst the students who pass their qualifying exam from schools/colleges recognized by the Chandigarh Administration
General Pool (15%): Remaining 15% seats will be filled from amongst students, who passed their qualifying examination from institutions other than those located in the Union Territory, Chandigarh
In both pools, 15%* seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC)
Eligibility Criteria
- B.Sc Medical Lab Technology Course (3 years Courses)
Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology Degree Course:
- A person who has passed 10+2 exam in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University
- B.Sc Medical Technology (X-RAY) Course (3 years Course)
Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc. Medical Technology (X-RAY) Degree Course:
- A person who has passed 10+2 exam in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University
- B.Sc Medical Technology (Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Techniques) (3 years Course)
Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc Medical Technology (Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre) Degree Course
- A person who has passed 10+2 exam in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University
- B.OPTOM (4 years Course)
Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in Bachelor of Clinical Optometry (B.Optom.) Degree Course:
- A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University
- B.Sc Nursing Degree Course (4 years)
Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course:
- A person who has passed 10+2 exam in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University
- Pre Hospital Trauma Technician Course (PHTTC 9 Months Certificate Course)
Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in the Pre-Hospital Trauma Technician (PHTTC) Course:
- A person who has passed 10+2 exam in Science group with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC candidates with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as subjects conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University
- Age limit for the said course as on 31st December 2016 should be between 17 years to 25 years
Scheme of Examination
Scheme of Examination shall be as under:
The medium of GCET-2016 will be English only. Paper will consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each question will carry 1 (one) mark (maximum marks 100). There will be no negative marking. For all the courses, the duration of the entrance test will be of two hours
- Minimum qualifying marks in GCET-2016 for inclusion in the list of successful candidates are as: (a) General category: not less than 45% (b) SC category: not less than 40%
- For 10+2 (Medical Group i.e. Physics, Chemistry & Biology) passed candidate for all Courses:
Syllabus will be of 10+2 standard equivalent to AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE - (i) Biology 50 Questions; (ii) Physics 25 Questions (iii) Chemistry 25 Questions (iv) For 10+2 (vocational stream) passed candidates & diploma in respective discipline
- B.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology) - Anatomy and Physiology 30 questions; Biology & Chemistry 35 questions; Lab Techniques 35 questions; (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Hematology & Histopathology)
- B.Sc. Medical Technology (X-Ray) - Anatomy and Physiology 30 questions; Radiation Physics & Biology 35 questions; Radiographic Techniques 35 questions
- B.Optom - Biology-Ophthalmic 30 questions; Optics 35 questions and; Ophthalmic Techniques 35 questions
Selection Process
The selection will be made on the basis of rank/merit obtained in the GMCH Combined Entrance Test 2016 (GCET-2016) to be conducted by Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh
