WRO India- World Robot Olympiad 2016

About



The World Robot Olympiad is a competition for science, technology and education which brings together the young people (upto 25 years of age) all over the world to develop their creativity and problem solving skills through challenging and educational robotics competitions. 


WRO 2016 is being organized by ISF and NCSM in collaboration to build scientific temperament and 21st century skills in students. The WRO would have teams from schools and universities across the globe.



Eligibility


Students of age group 9 to 25 years


Competition Categories

The World Robot Olympiad has four competition categories:
  1. Regular Category
  2. Open Category
  3. WRO Football
  4. Advanced Robotics Challenge

A team may only participate in one category.



Age Criteria for Team members


  • Elementary (Primary) School Age: Participants up to 12 years old in the year of competition.
  • Junior High (Middle) School Age: Participants 13-15 years old in the year of competition.
  • High (Secondary) School Age: Participants 16-19  years old  in  the  year  of competition 
  • WRO Football: Participants 10-19 years old in the year of competition.
  • Advanced Robotics Challenge: Participants 17-25  years  old  in  the  year  of  the  competition



Age Criteria for Coach


At the time of the registration, the minimum age of the coach must not be less than 20 years.

                                       

Team Definition


The WRO is a team-based challenge. To participate in each category of competition, students must work in teams.

A team consists of one coach and two or three team members.

One coach and one team member is not considered to be a team and cannot participate.



Coaches

  • The minimum age of a coach in an international WRO tournament (and assistant coaches) is age 20 at the time of registration for the WRO final.

  • Coaches may work with more than one team; however each team needs to be assisted by a responsible adult. This person may be an assistant coach.

  • Coaches may offer students advice and guidance prior to the competition, however during the actual Olympiad competition, all work and preparation must be performed by the student members of the team.

WRO 2016 is being jointly organized by India STEM Foundation and National Council of Science Museums (NCSM).

India STEM Foundation is a pioneer in promoting hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) education in India with the intervention of Robotics and research based learning programs for school and college students. India STEM foundation is the affiliate partner of World Robot Olympiad Association in India.

National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) is India’s premier body playing a key role in the growth of science and technology by organizing various science education programs, activities and trainings within and outside of Schools and Colleges at its science centres spread across the country in order to develop and inculcate scientific attitude, temper and general awareness amongst the people of the country.

Payment process


 Registration Fee Payment Options
  

 A. Demand Draft/Cheque Deposit:
  • The DD/ cheque should be made in favor of INDIA STEM FOUNDATION, payable at the Gurgaon.
  • Deposit the DD/ cheque to the nearset HDFC branch.
  • Upload the softcopy of the bank acknowledgement/ receipt OR scan copy of cheque/DD on next page.
B. Bank Transfer:
  • After filling the applictaion form the participants have to click the pay now button to reach the payment page.
C. Cash Deposit:
  • To make payment, download the HDFC bank Challan/ Deposit slip. Fill the payment information  (including Rs.120 bank charges) in the downloaded Challan/slip.
  • Deposit the fee along with this Challan /slip into any of HDFC bank branch.
  • Upload the softcopy of the bank acknowledgement/ receipt on Next page.
D. Online – Debit Card/ Credit Card:
  • After filling the applictaion form the participants have to click the pay now button to reach the payment page.

Online deadline: July 15, 2016



Note
  • It is strictly enforced that students cannot be older than specified in the Age Group Definition andwill not be allowed to participate in the International Final.
  • Students younger than the age group definition have to obtain permission from the Host Country for participation in the international final and may only be approved if at least one other team member has the correct age.
  • If all members of a team are younger than required, then the team must participate in the corresponding competition.
  • Participants are not confined to school-going students. Anyone can participate in the corresponding age groups except for participants in the Advanced Robotics Challenge who MUST be either High School or undergraduate students.
