Goa Common Entrance Test GCET 2017 Notification and Dates announced have been announced. The candidates who want to get admission to B.E., B.Arch & B.Pharm., BHMS, Allied Health Sciences (BPT, BOT, B.Opt., B.Sc.M.I.T., B.Sc.A.T.) B.Sc in Nursing in the State of Goa for the academic year 2017 will have to appear in the Goa Common Entrance Test GCET 2017.
Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Goa shall conduct Goa Common Entrance Test - GCET 2017 for admission to Professional Courses in the State of Goa 2017.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Admission to professional courses in State of Goa is open to Indian nationals fulfilling the eligibility criteria under various categories. Non-resident Indians holding Indian passport may also apply for seats reserved under NRI category. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) /Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are considered eligible for admissions to seats under NRI Category only.
Foreign Nationals must apply to Govt. of India
- Age: An applicant to Degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Homoeopathy Allied Health Sciences and Nursing must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December 2017 of the academic year of admission to become eligible for admission to First Year.
No age limit, minimum or maximum, is specified for admission to Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture
- Valid score at GCET-2017: An applicant for Degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Pharmacy, Homoeopathy, Allied Health Sciences and Nursing must have appeared and obtained valid score at the Goa Common Entrance Test GCET conducted by Govt. of Goa for the year of admission
- GCET score of the previous year/s shall not be valid; for Medicine and Dentistry Degree courses, minimum GCET score should be 50% (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC and 45% for applicants belonging to PH category) aggregate in specified subjects
No minimum limit is specified for other courses
An applicant for Degree Course in Architecture must have appeared and obtained valid score at NATA conducted by Council of Architecture
Qualifying Exam & Minimum Marks: An applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Exam of the Goa Board or an Exam conducted by the CBSE New Delhi, or any other exam, which in scope and standard, is deemed to be equivalent to the HSSC exam of Goa Board, and must have obtained the minimum percentage of marks in the specific subjects, as prescribed for the admission to respective professional courses, as under
A) First Year MBBS, BDS, BHMS, AHS & B.Sc in Nursing
- MBBS, BDS, BHMS & AHS: Applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std. XII) exam of Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent exam with English & secured not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology taken together. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC/ST & OBC only and 45% for applicants belonging to PH category for MBBS /BDS Course)
- B.Sc in Nursing: Applicants should have passed HSSC (qualifying exam) in subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and obtained minimum 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology for General Category, (40% aggregate marks in subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology for candidates belonging to SC,ST and OBC category)
B) First Year B.E.: The applicant should have passed the HSSC (Std. XIIth) Exam of the Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent exam with English, Physics & Maths as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Sci./Biology, & secured not less than 45% marks in the aggregate to SC/ST and OBC only)
C) First Year B.Pharm: The applicant should have passed the HSSC (Std.XIIth) Exam of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent exam with English, Physics & Chemistry as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Mathematics/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology, and secured not less than 45% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics & Chemistry with one of the following subjects Mathematics/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology (40% for the applicants belonging to SC/ST & OBC only)
D) First Year B.Arch.: The applicant should have passed the HSSC (Std. XIIth) exam of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent exam with Mathematics as one of the subjects and secured at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% aggregate marks for applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC);
OR
10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks; or International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10-years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject
Applicants scoring minimum 80/200 at NATA will be eligible for admission to B.Arch., provided NATA score is obtained by answering NATA exam before last date of submission of admission form
E) Kashmiri Migrants Only in Engg Courses: The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XIIth) exam or its equivalent exam with English, Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology & secured not less than 45% marks
F) Admission of Eligible Diploma/B.Sc Degree holders to First Year of Engg/Pharmacy Degree Courses: Candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering /B.Sc Degree with Mathematics as a subject at Std XIIth , with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC), shall be eligible for admission to First Year of Engg Degree Courses, subject to vacancies in First Year, after vacancies at Lateral Entry into Direct Second Year are exhausted
The merit list of such candidates shall be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks scored at qualifying exam.
Seats Distribution
Exam Pattern
- The exam will consist of four papers as physics, mathematics, chemistry and biology
- Each paper will consist of 75 (Seventy Five) questions to be answered in two hours (One hundred & twenty minutes)
- Each question shall have four choices for answers, out of which only one shall be correct
- Correct answer shall carry one mark for each question. There will be no negative marking for wrong/multiple answers
- The examination will be in English language only
- The questions will be composed from the 11th & 12th syllabus prescribed by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education
Selection Process
- The selection will be made through the counselling process; the candidates will be ranked as per their individual score in GCET result 2017 and called for counselling
- After the successful processing of counselling, the candidates will be allotted the institutions and seat as per their ranks.
How to Apply
- To fill up the application form, follow the given below steps:
- Fill in all the details carefully
- Take a print out of the application form and submit the form in person at the notified Application Reception Centre according to the centre provided. Along with this, pay the demand draft of Rs.1500/- in favour of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji, and three photographs. Obtain the Photo-Admit Card, from the Admission Committee, on the same day.
Fees
Candidates can pay Rs.1500/- as the application fee along with the DD: The GCET 2017 Application Fee need to be paid via DD in favour of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji – Goa, on any Scheduled Bank.

- Chemistry: 09th May 2017 (Tuesday,, 14.00 to 16.00 hrs) - Duration: 2 Hrs
- Mathematics: 10th May 2017 (Wednesday, 10.00 to 12.00 hrs) - Duration: 2 Hrs
- Biology: 10th May 2017 (Wednesday, 14.00 to 16.00 hrs) - Duration: 2 Hrs

GCET Admit card 2018 will be available from 27th April 2018. Get the latest information on GCET 2018 Admit Card. The admit card for GCET 2018 will be handed over to the applicant as soon as the candidate submit the application form at the application reception center.
ReplyDeleteDirectorate of Technical Education, Goa has issued notice to postpone the GCET 2020 exam Date on account of the coronavirus outbreak. GCET 2020 was scheduled to be conducted on May 5 and 6 across various test cities of the state. The board has also said that the new dates will be announced ten days in advance to the conduct of examination.
ReplyDeleteThis exam is conducted in order to provide admissions into various courses. The applicants, who aspire to sit in the test must have the complete knowledge about the same. In order to apply for the test, the candidates will have to fill an application form. Kindly note that due to the outbreak of COVID 19, the authority has postponed all its activities. However, the GCET Exam Date 2020 remains the same.
