CSIR Innovation Award for School Children (CIASC) 2017

About


Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) is the premier Industrial R&D Organisation in India. CSIR initiated Invention Awards for school children to create awareness, interest and motivation for Intellectual Property amongst children.


The programme invites the applications from the children below the age of 18 years with their original creative, technical ideas in the proposal form. CSIR has announced the schedule and the participants can submit their entry before 31 March, 2017

The eligible candidates have to send their original creative and innovative technological and design ideas to participate in the competition CSIR Innovation Award For school Children. TOP 16 candidates will be selected for cash prizes and a certificate.

The innovation ideas should be one that is novel and utilitarian, and the idea or design should be a new concept to solve an existing problem. The students participating in the competition can also use any different but related design ideas.


Eligibility Criteria



  • Gender: Any
  • Region: Indian students
  • Class/Age: Students below 18 years as on 1 July 2017


Details:


  • Any Indian student enrolled in an Indian school below the age of 18 years can apply.
  • A Student can make only one entry. Proposals can be submitted by a student or a group of students.



Reward


Total 16 candidates will be awarded the cash prize and a certificate under the CSIR Innovation Award for School Children (CIASC). CSIR will select top 16 innovative entries for the award. The top 16 candidates will be given the cash prize as follows:


  • First Prize (1 No.) Rs. 2,00,000/-
  • Second Prize (5 Nos.) Rs. 1,00,000/-
  • Third Prize (10 Nos.) Rs. 50,000/-



How to Apply


Applicant must provide the details of the innovation submitted for the award in not more than 5000 words in English/Hindi including an abstract (in not more than 100 words), authenticated (by giving seal and date) and sent through the Principal / Head of the School where the student is enrolled and personal details on a separate page as follows:

  • Title of the Innovation
  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • School and residential address
  • Class
  • Telephone no. (residence / school)
  • E-mail address.



In case of proposals already selected for state, national, international or equivalent awards, only the subject matter covering the improvements need to be submitted for consideration of CIASC. Innovations Published/ Exhibited during the period January 1 to September 30 may be considered for the award.


The applications for the award not exceeding 5000 words in English/Hindi with requisite drawings/ photographs will be considered. The write-up must describe the subject matter in a problem-solution mode and highlighting the novel features of the innovation and its advantages.


Application Submission


First, the participants have to submit their application form Online on the email ciasc.ipu@niscair.res.in and thereafter the participants have to submit the hard copy of their application in an A4 sized envelope ('CIASC-2017' must be written on the top left) via registered post or courier to the address given below:

Selection Process


A high award selection committee organized by CSIR will play a key role in the award selection process.


First, the selection committee will select the best 50 entries of the participants by screening and evaluation of their submitted applications. Now these top 50 shortlisted applicants will be provided with a training-cum-awareness which is related to IPR by innovation protection unit (IPU) of CSIR.
