Dr. Ambedkar National Essay Competition 2016

About


Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India invites entries from students of recognized schools and colleges/universities for Dr. Ambedkar National Essay Competition 2016.

This competition is held every year and the medium of competition is Hindi and English.


The competition is held in two categories- 

For Recognized schools (Class 9 to 12):

  • The Topic is – Dr. Ambedkar’s views on Nation and Nationalism. 
  • The word limit for the school students is 2000 words. 



For the recognized colleges, Universities / Institutions:

  • The suggested Topic is Personality of Dr. Ambedkar, his social environment, his education and Western thoughts
  • For the university and college going students, the word limit is 3500 words. 



The Total marks of the Essay are 100.

Eligibility Criteria



  • Gender: Both
  • Region: Naitional
  • Class/ Age: Class 9-12 and College & University Students


Details:


  • Student from any recognized school or college/University/Institutions can apply in the competition.
  • Each participant can submit only one essay entry.
  • Each participant has to submit a certificate indicating that the essay is their original work.
  • The individual participant shall enclose a certificate issued by the concerned recognized school/ college/ University, certifying that he/she is a bonafide student



Reward


The prize money for the school students has been revised this year while for the university students it remains same likewise last year. 

The winner students of the recognized Colleges/ Universities/ Institutions will be given the following prizes: 

  • First Prize Rs. 1 lakh, 
  • Second Prize: Rs. 50,000 
  • Third Prize: Rs. 25,000. 



The price is applicable to both Hindi and English Language winners individually. 

While, the winner students of the recognized School will be given the following prizes: 

  • First Prize Rs. 50,000, 
  • Second Prize: Rs. 30,000 
  • Third Prize: Rs. 20,000. 



The award ceremony will be held in New Delhi, the dates of which shall be disclosed later. The expenditure for winners travelling, lodging will be provided by the foundation.

How to Apply



All the interested students are required to fill an application form. Participants should send two clean typed copies (one original & one photocopy) of the essay. 

One copy should include name, address, topic, language, e-mail, phone no. etc. with the signature of the participant, while the other copy need not show any such particulars. Relevant information like name, e-mail address, postal address, institution, course and year of study etc. of the student participant should be indicated in the covering letter and strictly not in the essay.

Submission of the Essay 


The essay can be submitted by post only. The candidates should make sure that on the top of the envelope, they write “Dr. Ambedkar Foundation National Essay Competition – 2016” and post the essay with registered / Speed post to the following address:

Selection Process


The Ambedkar Foundation will select a Chair who will then form a committee to evaluate the essays and decide the winners. 

The essays will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Content (50 Marks), 
  • Analysis/ interpretation (20 Marks), 
  • Presentation (15 Marks), 
  • Writing Skills (15 Marks). 



The results will be displayed on the official website of Dr. Ambedkar Foundation.

Important Dates

  • The last date of submission is 2nd February 2017.
