Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata Entrance Test Notification 2017

About


Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) organizes an entrance exam know as ISI 2017 to screen candidates for admission in various degree programmes. This institution has four campuses situated in Chennai, Tezpur, Delhi and Bangalore.


Applications are invited for ISI Kolkata Admission Test 2017 for admission to B.Stat (Hons), B.Math (Hons), for the academic year 2017-18.

Candidates who are due to complete the qualifying exams before 01st July 2017 may also apply

Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) 2017 - admission is offered at ISI Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and other campuses.


Eligibility Criteria and Stipend Details


  • B.Stat (Hons) (3-year): Successful completion of Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with Mathematics and English as subject Stipend Rs.3000/- per month (Offered at Kolkata)
  • B.Math (Hons) (3-year): Successful completion of Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with Mathematics and English as subject Stipend Rs.3000/- per month (Offered at Bengaluru)


NOTE: For the above two programs, eligible Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) Awardees of any previous year need not sit for the written test. Such candidates would be directly called for interview but are required to apply in the prescribed application form like all other.


How to Apply



  • Candidates in India can apply only online through the official website www.isical.ac.in. Applicants should read carefully the Prospectus and the instructions given in the website before filling in the application form.
  • Applications will open from 8 February, 2017
  • An applicant must have access to the Internet, an email account, acrobat reader and need to have a digital copy of his/her photo and signature in appropriate format and size
  • Candidates from outside India may send an email to dean@isical.ac.in with subject Admission 2017-18 for the application procedure



Application Fees


Applicants have to pay the required fee at the tie of the submission of the application form for the admission to the Indian Statistical Institute. Applicants paying the application fee via bank in cash will have to pay extra Rs. 60 Extra as processing charges.

Selection Process


Details for admission to B. Maths (Hons) & B. Stats (Hons)


  • Admission to B. Maths (Hons) & B. Stats (Hons) is discussed here and both courses are offered by the ISI as a comprehensive three-year degree program.
  • Admission will be based on ISI entrance exam which will be a 4 hours exam and will have questions only on Mathematics.
  • Deserving students get a stipend of Rs. 3000 per month of B.maths (Hons) offered in Bengaluru and B.Stats (Hons.) offered at Kolkata. Stipends are granted in for one semester/academic year only and is renewed periodically if the progress of the student is found satisfactory.
  • There will be Direct Interview Call for eligible Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) awardees of any previous year. These students need to follow the application process but are exempt from appearing in the ISI entrance exam.

Selection Process


Selection of Candidates is based on merit as judged by their performance in written tests and interviews conducted by the Institute. There will be due considerations for the reserved categories. 

The selection will be merit based depending upon their performances in selection stages. The decision of ISI in all admission related matters will be final. Finally, applicants must note that their selections will be based on the performances of following parameters:


  • Performance in written Test
  • Interviews at Institute
  • Past academic records may be taken into consideration



Exam Pattern


The entrance exam has been divided into two papers i.e. paper I and paper II. Paper I will comprise of objective type questions and paper II will contain short answer type questions.


  • Forenoon Test will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
  • Afternoon Test will have Descriptive Type Questions
