Indian Maritime University announces the Common Entrance Test IMUCET 2017 for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. IMUCET 2017 is scheduled to be conducted on May 27, 2017 (Saturday).
Indian Maritime University has its head office in Chennai and has campuses at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Cochin and Visakhapatnam.
The online application process for IMU CET has already started on March 25, 2017 and will continue till the last date May 08, 2017. The admit cards for IMU CET 2017 will be made available on May 12.
The results of IMUCET 2017 will be declared on May 30, 2017 and the qualified candidates will be called for the further rounds of selection and counseling. The counseling process involves verification of original documents, physical fitness clearance, and allotment of seats in the IMU Campuses and Institutes affiliated to IMU.

Undergraduate programmes
- 4-Year B. Tech (Marine Engineering)
- 4-Year B. Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)
- 3-Year BBA (Logistics, Retailing and E-Commerce): The Indiam Maritime University has introduced a new course i.e BBA (Logistics, Retailing and E-Commerce) from the academic year 2017-18 and there is no CET for the admission in this programme. The candiadtes applying for the BBA programme also need to register. The details regarding the eligibility Criteria, application fee are given towards the end of this page.
- 3-Year B. Sc (Maritime Science)
- 3-Year B. Sc (Nautical Science)
- 3-Year B. Sc (Ship Building & Repair) - This Programme is being conducted only in the Affiliated Institutes.
- 1-Year Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) leading to B.Sc. (Applied Nautical Science)
Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Minimum 17 years and not more than 25 as on 17 July 2017
- Academic Qualifications: The candidate who have passed Class 12 or equivalent in the first attempt.
- Those who appearing in class 12 qualifying exam can also appear for IMU CET 2017 provided they appear in the Qualifying exam before 31 May 2017.
Minimum qualifying Marks for IMU Admission in B.Sc/B.Tech
In Case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English marks.
Course wise Eligibility Criteria requirement
For DNS B.Sc Nautical Science & B.Sc Maritime Science
- Candidate for admission to marine courses (DG Shipping-approved courses) are required to produce certificate for medical fitness by Doctors approved by Director General of Shipping. - A diploma in Nautical Science calls for a minimum 60% secured as aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Electronics and Mathematics in Class 12 or equivalent.
For B.Tech courses
- Candidates should have a colour vision shall (unaided 1.0 (6/6) in better eye and 0.67 (6/9)
- in other eye. Normal Colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.
For BBA (Logistics, Retailing and E-Commerce) Location: Chennai and Cochin
- 10+2/equivalent (Minimum 60% of Aggregate marks in any stream and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th Examination.)
- In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English marks.
Application Fee
Registration Fee payable is Rs. 700/- for candidates from SC/ST category and Rs. 1,000/- for all others. It is non-refundable.
Note: For candidates of BBA (Logistics, Retailing and e-Commerce) Programme, the Registration Fee payable is Rs. 140/- for candidates from SC/ST category and Rs. 200/- for all others. It is non-refundable.
