IISER Admission 2017 for BS-MS Dual Degree

IISER Admission 2017 for BS & MS Programme has started. IISER has been established to promote high-quality scientific education, research and training, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). 

The government of India has set up Seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati and Berhampur. 


The candidates who will take the admission through State & Central Boarsds (SCB) are required to appear for IISER Aptitude Test for SCB will be conducted on 25 June 2017 at multiple test centers across India.


Admission to IISER is possible for the candidates who have achieved a rank in JEE ADvanced or the candidates who are KVPY fellows or on the basis of IISER Aptitude Test fro State & Central Board (SCB) Category. 


The duration of BS-MS Dual Degree Program at IISER is Five Years and the total intake of students at all IISERs put together is 1125 students. The candidates will be admitted to IISER BS-MS programmes through these three channels which are given below:


  • Kishore Vaigyanik Prostsahan Yojana (KVPY)
  • Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT-JEE)
  • State and Central Boards Chanel (SCB)




Eligibility Criteria


KVPY Channel


  • Candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship commencing from 2017-18 academic session are eligible to apply for admissions. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.



JEE Channel


  • Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2017 are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to reserved category (OBCNC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank would be used. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.



SCB Channel


  • Students who have passed (10+2) level with science stream in 2016 or 2017 with marks equal or above the cut off percentage in their respective boards as given in the table below are eligible to apply. 
  • For the candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer of the Other Backward Classes (OBCNC) and Persons with Disability (PD) categories, there is a 5% relaxation. 
  • The cut-off percentage for the Scheduled Castes (SC), the Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Kashmiri Migrants (KM) candidates is 55% in (10+2) level for all boards. Students applying through SCB channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test which will be conducted at various centres across the country. 
  • To calculate your percentage of marks obtained use your board’s method.



For General categories the cut-offs are declared. Relaxation in the eligibility criteria for other categories are as follows:


  • OBC Non Creamy Layer Category : 5% below the cut-off percentage
  • SC/ST/KM category: 55% for all boards
  • PD category : 5% below the cut-off percentage



Scholarship



  • KVPY scholars admitted to IISERs would draw fellowship as per KVPY norms. In addition, a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships will be available for candidates admitted through JEE Advanced and SCB channel as applicable as per the norms prescribed by DST INSPIRE scheme.
  • This supersedes all earlier announcements regarding scholarship.



How to Apply





  • The candidate must sign up using a valid email ID which would be verified. You also need to select a password (between 8 to 16 characters, with at least a Capital letter, a number and a special character). You also need to specify your name at this stage. Please enter your name as printed in your Class XII mark-sheet. Any discrepancy may disqualify your application.
  • On successful verification of your email ID, you would be able to login to our site using your email ID and password.
  • The application form involves six or seven steps depending on which channel you chose. In each step, you need to furnish data to validate your candidature. If you get an offer of admission, some of those data would be verified against appropriate documents.
  • If you are applying through SCB channel then you need to enter your subject-wise marks (name of the subject, marks obtained out of maximum marks). If your board takes into account XI and XII performance for the calculation of percentage, then you need to add the total marks (addition of XI and XII entries) for that subject.
  • The last step in the application form is the payment of application fees. Once the payment is successful, you can find your completed application under the My Application(s) tab. For complete applications, the status should say “Complete” and application fees column should say “Paid”. At this stage, you can download a copy of the application for your records.
  • Even after your application is complete, you may log in and change some of your data (except Name, Email address). However, you should take a print of the latest version of the Application Form.
  • For SCB channel, the Hall tickets would be available on the My Application(s) page (which you get after you log in). If you are offered admission in one of the IISERs, your offer letter would also be available on the same page.

Exam Pattern



  • Meduim of Question Paper: English
  • Type of Question Paper: MCQ
  • Duration: 180 Minutes
  • IISER Marking Scheme: 3 marks are awarded for a correct response, no marks are awarded or deducted for the unanswered question and there is a negative marking of -1 for every wrong answer.
