Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur has opened the dates for Centralized counselling for the courses mentioned below for the year 2017-2018.

Eligibility Criteria


  • For B. Tech (Direct Entry): The candidate must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject securing at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.
  • For B. Pharm (Direct Entry): Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject securing at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.
  • Provided that a student should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the course.
  • B.Pharm. (Ayurveda): The candidate must have passed 10+2 examination from a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.



Selection Procedure



  • For B.Tech (4 yrs): The admission to the first 50% of the seats shall be made on the basis of merit/rank/score obtained in Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2017 or hereinafter referred as JEE (Main)-2017.
  • The remaining 50% seats will be filled up on the basis of merit of Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test-2017 or (hereinafter referred as HPCET-2017)
  • In case the seats remain vacant after exhausting the merit of JEE (Main)-2017 and HPCET-2017, the remaining seats will be filled up on the basis of merit of 10+2 examination conducted by recognized Board or University.
  • The number of seats remain vacant to be filled on the basis of each test/examination will be shifted and filled on the basis of next text/examination in continuous order.

  • For B.Pharm. (4 yrs): The admission to B. Pharmacy first year degree course shall be made on the basis of merit of HPCET- 2017.
  • In case the seats remain vacant after exhausting the merit of HPCET-2017, the remaining seats will be filled up on the basis of merit of 10+2 examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.

  • For B. Pharm (Ayurveda) (4 yrs): The admission to B.Pharmacy (Ayurveda) shall be made on the basis of merit of HPCET-2017.



Reservation of Seats



The reservation of seats in various Under-graduate and Post-graduate courses offered by the University in its Campuses, Constituent and Affiliated Colleges/Institutions is as under:



  • All India Quota (AIQ) Seats: 15% of the total sanctioned seats.
  • HP State Quota (HPSQ) Seats: 65% of total sanctioned intake. (Including one seat under Beti Hai Anmol Scheme of single girl child of Himachali domicile only in each Institution within the sanctioned intake).
  • Seats for NonResident Indian(s): 5% of total sanctioned intake 
  • Subject Management Seats in Private Institutions only: 15% of total sanctioned intake in under-graduate courses only.

How to Apply


  • The candidates desirous to seek admission to various courses during 2017-18 are required to apply on the prescribed form ONLINE. Only those applicants, who apply ONLINE before the last date and satisfy the eligibility criteria, will be considered for admission. 
  • A separate application is required to be submitted for each program.
  • Candidates who have not appeared in HPCET-2017 are required to pay nonrefundable application processing fee of Rs. 1200/- for all categories (i.e. Gen/OBC/SC/ST) before submission of the application ONLINE.
  • A candidate must be present in person at the time of counselling and should immediately report to the Admission Selection Committee on calling. The applicant present during the counselling will be given an opportunity to choose from the seats available at his/her turn.




The candidate must produce the following documents, in original, along-with one set of photocopies duly attested at the time of counselling:-


  • Certificate of having passed the qualifying examination.
  • Marks-sheet issued by the Board/University.
  • Matriculation/Higher Secondary Part-I/Indian School Certificates showing the date of birth.
  • National Level Entrance Examination/HPCET-2017 Score Card.
  • Character Certificate from the Head of Institution last attended.


Sports category


  • A separate merit list of the sports category candidates will be prepared and merit shall be determined by giving additional weightage in lieu of the grading of the best or the highest sports event played by the applicant to the score/marks obtained by him/her in the entrance examination/qualifying examination. 
  • Only those certificates will be considered for calculation of sports merit, which are issued by the sports authorities mentioned above.
  • The sports merit so calculated will be applicable for determining the merit in respect of sports category only and not for any other category.


Application Fee




  • H.P. Technical University Fee: Every student admitted to any UG or PG program has to pay non-refundable fee of Rs.3,000/- per year as University Fee and Rs.1,500/- as one time University Registration Fee.
  • Click the button “Click here to get fee payment link”; Fee Payment option “Offline link to generate PNB Challan” and “Online Fee Payment Link” will appear. If you want to make payment through bank Challan, select “Offline link to generate PNB Challan” option. PNB challan in triplicate (i.e. candidate copy, bank copy and university copy) will be generated. Take the print out of the challan and deposit the Fee in the nearest PNB branch. 
  • After depositing the fee, re-login in your account at least after 24 hours; enter payment details i.e. transaction number as provided by the bank on the PNB Challan Payment details page and click on “Save Payment Details”. Candidate can also pay through Credit/Debit Card.
