JoSAA 2017

About


The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2017 has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 97 institutes for the academic year 2017-18. 

This includes 23 IITs,  31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform.

JoSAA Participating Colleges


The students have to pay the required amount for final seat booking after allotment of the seat otherwise the allotment would be cancelled. The name of the institutes for which the JoSAA counselling will be held is given along with the number of colleges.

Eligibility Criteria



  • All candidates who have appeared in JEE (Main) 2017 are eligible to register for seat allocation in NIT+ system (except IITs).
  • All candidates who have declared qualified in JEE (Adv) 2017 are eligible to register for seat allocation in all participating Institutes.








Calculation of Aggregate Marks in Class 12


To calculate the aggregate marks and the qualifying marks for fulfilling the top 20 Percentile criterion the following subjects will be considered:


  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • A Language

Application Procedure



  • Number of rounds of seat allocation: JoSAA will conduct seven rounds that is 1st through 7th rounds of seat allocation for academic programs offered by Institutes under JoSAA 2017.
  • Seat acceptance: Candidates allotted a seat must pay the seat acceptance fee (through e-Challan/SBI NetBanking) and get the documents verified at any reporting center (josaa.nic.in) for provisional seat acceptance .
  • Participation in subsequent rounds: A candidate is required to fill option for ‘freeze’, ‘slide’ or ‘float’ the choice of academic program.
  • Dual Reporting: If in a subsequent round, a candidate’s allotment from NIT+ system changes to an IIT, the candidate MUST report ONCE AGAIN at an IIT reporting centre, similarly if a candidate’s allotment from IIT changes to an NIT+ system, the candidate MUST report ONCE AGAIN at any NIT+ reporting centre, failure to do so will result in forfeiture of seats allocated in both NIT+ system and IIT.
  • Withdraw option: A candidate, who has already accepted a seat, can withdraw the seat by reporting at a reporting center before the seventh round of seat allocation.





Important Information



  • Registration: Candidates who do NOT register within the specified time window WILL NOT be able to seek admission for this academic year
  • Filling-in of choices: Candidates who do NOT fill-in choices within the specified time window WILL NOT be able to seek admission for this academic year
  • Dual Reporting: Two times reporting required in case of seat allotment changes from NIT+s system to IITs and vice versa.
  • No modification of locked choices – once locked, choices CANNOT be modified.




Rank List


The following Types of rank lists will be prepared:


  • Common rank list (CRL): It includes candidates who are assigned the tag GEN, GEN-PwD,OBC-NCL, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC, SC-PwD, ST or STPwD. Foreign tag candidates are also included in  the CRL prepared based on JEE (Advanced) 2017.
  • OBC-NCL rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag OBC-NCL or OBC-NCL-PwD.
  • SC rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag SC or SCPwD.
  • ST rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag ST or STPwD.
  • CRL-PwD rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag GEN-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD, or ST-PwD.
  • OBC-NCL-PwD rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag OBC-NCL-PwD.
  • SC-PwD rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag SCPwD.
  • ST-PwD rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag ST-PwD.

  • Candidates registration and fill-in their choices of academic programs ends: 26 June 2017
  • Seat allocation (1st round): 28 June 2017
  • Display of seats filled/availability status and Seat allocation (2nd round): 4 July 2017
  • Display of seats filled/availability status and Seat allocation (3rd round): 7 July 2017
  • Display of seats filled/availability status and Seat allocation (4th round): 11 July- 12 July 2017
  • Display of seats filled/availability status and Seat allocation (5th round): 13 July 2017
