About
20th Merit Search Exam is being conducted since last 19 years. Students are awarded Merit Certificates and Scholarships. It is conducted for students of Class 5-12 in order to promote merit among students.
The students of any Government or Private School or College of class V to XII can apply which is going to be conducted on 10 April, 2017 in different Districts towns of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
The selection of candidates will be based on a written test and to be appear in the examination, the students are required to pay a Registration Fee of Rs. 300/-. The interested candidates can apply for NCE 20th Merit Search Exam through Online and offline mode both.
The last date to make application is December 31, 2016.
Eligibility Criteria
- Gender: Both
- Region: All India (But exam will be in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh)
- Class/ Age: students of Class 5 to 12 of any Government or Private School or College
Details:
Students are divided into 3 groups according to classes
- Class 5, 6,7
- Class 8,9
- Class 10,12
Not Eligible for the examination:
Dependents of any Employee/Member of the Council are not eligible to apply.

How to Apply
The willing candidates can apply either online or offline for 20th NEC Merit Scholarship Exam.
Registration fee: Rs. 300
Prospectus: Rs. 50
- The students can obtain Previous ten years question paper by paying Rs. 20 per year per Class.
- The amount for the application fee, prospectus, and question papers can be paid online using Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, Bank Draft, Money order or by Cash(only at Patna Office Counter).
- The Demand Draft should be in favor of "The Secretary, National Educational Council", payable at "Patna"

NEC admit card 2016
The NEC Admit Cards will be available in the website 15 days before exam.
If you have applied online you can download NEC Admit card from the website otherwise, it would be sent by post to you.
Selection Process
- There is separate Question Paper for each Class.
- Medium of Examination: The Merit Scholarship Exam will be conducted in Hindi/ English
- There will be 4 sections in composite paper carrying 25 marks each

Questions are objective type, except Literature, which is subjective & compulsory qualifying section.
- The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of a written test.
- Students who attain 50% marks in literature would be evaluated further.
- In all student needs to score a minimum of 60% marks to qualify.
NEC Merit Exam Result 2016
- The result will be declared 90 days after the NEC Exam date on the website & all participants will be intimated through ordinary post.
- There is provision to get Photocopy of answer-sheet after result.
Important Dates
- Last date to submit Application Form: December 31, 2016
- Written Exam Date: April 9, 2017
- Admit Card: March 25, 2017, onwards (15 days before the exam)
- Result: July 2017 (90 days after the exam)
