Nirma University, Ahmedabad invites applications for admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Programme offered in Industrial Design and Communication Design in the Department of Design for the academic session 2017-18. 

Design and innovation is the need of the hour not only as problem solving bust also to bring new ideas and technologies to fruition, using the design process and design thinking methods which are unique, inclusive and revolve around the actual get many technology and management inputs which would be a terrific advantage in their pursuit as problem solves.

Nirma University offers is a 4 years B. Des Degree Programme in Industrial Design as well as a 4 years B. Des Degree Programme in Communication Design

Intake 

• B. Des Degree Programme in Communication Design - 40 Seats 

• B. Des Degree Programme in Industrial Design - 40 Seats 

Eligibility Criteria 

For B. Des in Communication Design

For 85% Seats: Candidate should have passed Qualifying Examination i.e. 10+2 or 10+3 years Diploma recognized by the Central/State governments or IB Diploma and or other test with minimum 50% aggregate marks.

For 15% NRI Category Seats: 15% of total intake of the B. Des. programme will be filled by Department of Design, Nirma University with following eligibility criteria: 

• For NRI Students: Candidate should have passed the qualifying examination from abroad and or other test with minimum 50% aggregate marks Candidate will have to produce equivalence certificate of qualifying examination from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi 

• For NRI Sponsored Students: Candidate should have passed Qualifying Examination i.e. 10+2 or 10+3 years Diploma recognized by the Central/State governments or IB Diploma and or other test with minimum 50% aggregate marks 

• Candidate will have to produce a sponsorship letter from an NRI who will undertake to pay all tuition and other fees for the entire degree program. Format of undertaking is available on our website 

For B. Des Industrial Design

For 85% Seats: Candidate should have passed Qualifying Examination i.e. 10+2 or 10+3 years Diploma recognized by the Central/State governments or IB Diploma and or other test with Mathematics or Statistics or Business Mathematics as one of the subject with minimum 50% aggregate marks 

For 15% NRI Category Seats: 15% of total intake of the B. Des. programme will be filled by Department of Design, Nirma University with following eligibility criteria:

Selection Procedure 

The process of Admission to the B.Des. programmes consists of the following stages:

Application Form

Students should complete the online application form available on the website and pay application processing fee of Rs. 2000/- online through credit card/debit card or net banking.

Documents to be brought at time of Personal Interview with the Application Form:

• S.S.C. Examination (Std. X) Mark-sheet

• H.S.C. Examination (Std. XII) Mark-sheet

• School Leaving Certificate or Transfer Certificate

• Diploma Examination Mark-sheet, if applicable

• Latest Passport size Photograph of the candidate

Design Entrance Test

• The students shall appear in the design entrance test as per the test centre which they have been allocated. The students shall be shortlisted on the basis of their performance and the list of students qualifying the next stage would be announced online. 

• The Design Entrance Test will evaluate the design aptitude of applicants with the objective of measuring their skills in Sketching, Visualization, Creativity, Colour and Mechanical Comprehension.

Admission Interview and Portfolio Review

• The students shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Design Entrance Test will be called in person for Admission Interview at one of the shortlisted cities. The counseling panel will ask questions related to the field of study selected by the student. 

• Creative evidence (portfolio) in hard copy / digital copy will be looked at and evaluated.

NOTE: Applicants not present on the schedule date and time of the entrance examination and / or for the personal interview will forfeit their chance for admissions.

Offer of Admission/ Admission

• Successful candidates will be made an offer of admission to join the Department of Design at Nirma University. The offer will be sent via an email, followed by an official letter of admission via courier. 

• Details regarding payment of fees at the time of admission will be included in the admission letter.
